“I saw Kuvelja among the corpses next to the hangar. I remember him clearly. (…) As some people moved, he walked around and shot at those people,” said witness KB-117, who was accompanied by a legal counselor.

Witness KB-117 testified for the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina at this trial on December 13 last year.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Kuvelja, former member of the Jahorina Training Centre, with having participated in the shooting of about 100 Bosniak captives, who were cheated by being invited to come out of the warehouse in order to get medical assistance.

The indictment alleges that members of the Jahorina Training Centre fired bursts of gunfire at civilian captives in front of the Co-operative building in Kravica, while indictee Kuvelja “made sure” that the men, who were still alive, were killed by shooting them from an automatic rifle.

Witness KB-117 said that indictee Kuvelja had a machine gun, when he saw him in front of the hangar in Kravica.

The witness explained that, while he was in Kravica, he saw one of the commanders killing two men from a revolver, adding that he knew that more people were shot.

“While the shooting was in progress, I tried not to look there. I know that the shooting could be heard during the day. Also, I saw the bodies,” witness KB-117 said.

When asked by the Defence of the indictee if he saw that Kuvelja shot civilians, the witness said that he neither saw Kuvelja in one nor the other case, but he only “saw him shooting” in front of the hangar.

The next hearing is due to be held on March 27 this year, when the Defence will examine another witness.
