The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms a first instance verdict, under which Darko Dolic was acquitted of the charges for crimes in Prozor in 1993. The Appellate Chamber rejected an appeal filed by the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and confirmed the first instance verdict, pronounced in April 2011, acquitting Dolic of the charges that he raped three females in the summer of 1993.

Under the first instance verdict, Dolic, former member of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, was acquitted of the charges that he participated in the robbery and mistreatment of civilians in Druzinovici village, near Prozor in July and August 1993.

“After having reviewed the appealed verdict, the Appellate Chamber has determined that the Prosecution’s appeal is unfounded, that the appealed verdict is lawful and correct and that the factual status was determined correctly and fully,” the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina said in its announcement.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed the appeal against the verdict of release in December last year, requesting the Court to revoke it and order a retrial.
