Jasko Gazdic pleads not guilty

Jasko Gazdic pleaded not guilty before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for crimes committed on the territory of municipality of Foca in 1992 and 1993. "I plead not guilty on all counts of the charges against me," said the defendant Gazdic before the judge about the hearing that preceded it.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Gazdic, former member of the Army of Republika Srpska, with the inhumane treatment of females of Bosniak nationality who were unlawfully imprisoned in the rooms of the Partizan sports hall in Foca between early April 1992 and the end of March 1993.

The State Prosecution’s indictment specifies that Gazdic frequently came to the apartments and Partizan sports hall, where civilians were held imprisoned, and that on several occasions he left with females, among them underage girls.

He is also charged with raping the females that he took away under threat, the use of weapons and that he made it possible for others to rape the women too.

Gazdic has been remanded in custody since April 21 of this year, after he was arrested at the Klobuk international border crossing.
