Goran Saric Arrested

The State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA arrested Goran Saric in Bijeljina due to a suspicion that he committed crimes in the Sarajevo area in 1992. "The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is conducting an investigation against Saric on suspicion that he ordered the murder of ten Bosniak civilians, as well as the capture and persecution of many persons, mostly women and children, in Nahorevo, Poljine and other areas in Sarajevo in June 1992," the Prosecution said.

According to the State Prosecution’s allegations, Saric was Chief of the Police Station in the Serb municipality of Centar at that time. He is suspected of committing crimes against humanity.

Saric will be handed over to the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following his examination, the Prosecutor will decide whether to file a custody motion against the suspect.

During the war Saric also performed the function of Commander of the Special Brigade with Republika Srpska police.
