Testifying before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sajma Kesan said that her husband Ibro was among the Muslims, who were killed in Cajnice in May 1992. She said that her friend Halima Colak told her that indictees Kornjaca and Tadic participated in the murders.
“Halima told me that Milun, a Veljo and Veljo, known as Rus, decided to kill Muslims in Mostina after their acquaintance had been killed,” Kesan said.
State Prosecutor Dzevad Muratbegovic read a statement given by the witness during the course of the investigation. In that statement the witness said that Halima Colak informed her that besides indictee Kornjaca and Veljo Tadic, “Dusko Tadic, known as Rus” participated in the murders in Mostina. Witness Kesan confirmed the allegations contained in that statement.
Responding to Defence’s questions, the witness said that she did not know indictee Tadic, but she said again that a friend told her that Dusko Tadic, known as Rus, had participated in the murders.
Besides Milun Kornjaca and Dusko Tadic, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Milorad Zivkovic with persecuting Bosniaks from Cajnice area and killing 11 civilians in Mostina on May 19, 1992.
The indictment alleges that Kornjaca was Commander of the “Plavi orlovi” (“Blue Eagles”) paramilitary unit, Tadic was member of that Unit and Zivkovic was Chief of the Public Safety Station in Cajnice and member of the Crisis Committee of Cajnice municipality.
Testifying at this hearing, second Prosecution witness Hamid Agovic told the Court that his brother, who was a teacher, was killed in Mostina, adding that Serb soldiers told him in 1993 that he was killed by his students.
“All I wish is to find out where his bones are,” Agovic said.
Rifet Dzambegovic testified at this hearing too. He said that his brother was taken to Mostina in 1992 and he first heard about him after that when his remains were exhumed.
The trials of Kornjaca, Zivkovic and Tadic before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina are conducted separately, but joint witnesses are examined at the same time due to better efficiency of the proceedings.
Dzambegovic testified in the case of Zivkovic and Tadic only, because indictee Kornjaca can only follow the trial for 90 minutes, as per a doctor’s recommendation.
The trial is due to continue on August 22 this year.
