The President of the Hague Tribunal, Theodor Meron, has denied the request for early release of Momcilo Krajisnik, who is sentenced to 20 years in prison for crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In his annual address to the General Assembly of the United Nations the President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, ICTY announces that most of the trials before the Tribunal will be completed by December 2014.
The Hague Tribunals President has rejected a motion filed by representatives of victims from seven Bosnian municipalities, who asked the Tribunal to appeal against the decision to acquit Radovan Karadzic of genocide charges committed in 1992 following the end of the Prosecutions evidence presentation.
In a special plenary Theodor Meron was elected new President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, ICTY, while Carmel Agius was appointed Deputy President.
