Fourteen ex-fighters went on trial for crimes against humanity, accused of the murders, imprisonment, rape, torture and mistreatment of Serbs in the Konjic area in 1992 and 1993. Prosecutor Marijana Cobovic told the Bosnian state court at the start of the trial on Wednesday that the 14 defendants were responsible for the murders, detentions, rape, torture and mistreatment of the Serb population in Konjic, as well as burning their property and the local Orthodox church.

Former Bosnian Army soldier Elfeta Veseli was sentenced to ten years in prison for killing a 12-year-old boy in the north-eastern Zvornik municipality in the summer of 1992. Five former Bosnian Serb military policemen appealed against their convictions for involvement in the killings of 28 Bosniak civilians on Mount Borje near Teslic in 1992. Former Bosnian Serb military policemen Dragan Marjanovic, Sasa Gavranovic, Vitomir Devic, Zoran Sljuka and Dragomir Kezunovic launched an appeal against their convictions for crimes against humanity at the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Friday.

The Bosnian court increased the sentences handed down to former Bosnian Army soldiers Muhamed Sisic, Tarik Sisic and Aziz Susa, who were convicted of involvement in the killings of 21 Serbs in the village of Kukavice in 1992. The third-instance chamber of the Bosnian state court on Friday sentenced Muhamed Sisic to ten years in prison and Tarik Sisic and Aziz Susa to eight years each for wartime crimes in the village of Kukavice in the Rogatica municipality in August 1992.

The Bosnian prosecution argued that former Bosnian Serb Army soldiers Boro Milojica and Zelislav Rivic should be found guilty of responsibility for the killing of 19 Bosniaks, Roma and Croats in villages in the Prijedor area in 1992. In closing arguments at the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Thursday, the prosecution insisted that it had proved during the trial that Boro Milojica and Zelislav Rivic, former members of the Sixth Company of the Bosnian Serb Army’s Ljubija Battalion, participated in a widespread and systematic attack on the non-Serb population in the Prijedor area in June and July 1992.
