The state prosecution has asked the state court to repeal a verdict acquitting Aleksandar Cvetkovic of charges of participating in genocide in Srebrenica in July 1995. The defense objected to the proposal.
The Bosnian state court acquitted former Bosnian Serb Army serviceman Aleksandar Cvetkovic of taking part in the genocide of Bosniaks from Srebrenica in July 1995.
After a trial that has lasted nearly two years, the Bosnian state court will hand down a verdict in the Aleksandar Cvetkovic trial on July 2. Cvetkovic has been indicted for genocide in Srebrenica.
Presenting his closing statement, Aleksandar Cvetkovics defense attorney said Cvetkovic didnt participate in the execution of civilians from Srebrenica on the Branjevo Farm in the municipality of Zvornik in July 1995. As such, the defense believes that their client should be acquitted of charges of participating in genocide.
Presenting its closing statement at the Aleksander Cvetkovic trial, Cvetkovics defense attorney said the state prosecution failed to prove elements of genocide in the case against his client.
Presenting its closing arguments at the Aleksandar Cvetkovic trial, the state prosecution said Cvetkovics Tenth Sabotage Detachment of the Bosnian Serb Army participated in attacks on Srebrenica and the execution of hundreds of Srebrenica civilians at the Branjevo farm in July 1995.
The Bosnian state court is expected to make a decision regarding the presentation of evidence in the Aleksandar Cvetkovic trial. The decision would bring an end to the presentation of evidence and would lead to the state prosecutions closing statement.
At todays hearing of the Aleksandar Cvetkovic trial, the trial chamber approved a motion by the state prosecution to watch a video recording of testimony previously given by former UN military observer Joseph Kingori. The video recording will be presented to the Bosnian state court at the next hearing.
The Bosnian state prosecution called upon Vlastimir Golijan and Zoran Goronja to testify regarding statements they gave during proceedings which had been previously brought against them by the Bosnian state court.
