The Appeal Chamber of Bosnia's state court has extended former Bosnian Croatian military policeman Mato Baotic's sentence to 13 years for crimes committed in the Orasje area of northern Bosnia in 1992. The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sentenced former Bosnian Croat military policeman Mato Baotic to a single sentence of 13 years for committing war crimes in Orasje in 1992.

Two former Croatian Defence Council members were jailed in separate cases for raping women in the Orasje and Odzak areas during the war in 1992. The state court in Sarajevo on Friday sentenced former Croatian Defence Council military policeman Mato Baotic to ten years in prison for raping three women and mistreating a detainee in the Orasje area in 1992.

Testifying at a trial for crimes in the Orasje area, a state prosecution witness confirmed that defendant Mato Baotic and Pero Vincetic raped her in May 1992.

The Mato Baotic trial began with a reading of the indictment and the presentation of introductory statements. Baotic has been charged with war crimes committed in the Orasje area in 1992 and 1993.

A status conference was held before the state court to discuss the trial of Mato Baotic, charged with war crimes in Orasje. The status conference established that the trial will start at the beginning of February.

The state prosecution has filed an indictment against Mato Baotic, also known as Cikin, charging him with crimes against civilians and prisoners of war in Orasje in 1992 and 1993.

Police arrested former fighter Mato Baotic on suspicion that he raped two Serb women in 1992 in Orasje in northern Bosnia.
