The Bosnian state prosecution has filed an indictment against Jovan Novakovic for crimes against humanity he allegedly committed in the Bratunac area in 1992.

The retrial of former Bosnian Serb Army commander Milun Kornjaca began with introductory statements by the state prosecution. Kornjaca, the former commander of the Plavi Orlovi Unit (English translation: the Blue Eagles Unit), has been charged with war crimes in the Cajnice area in 1992.

Dragan Maksimovic failed to appear at a plea hearing before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Maksimovic has been charged with committing war crimes in the Kalesija area in the summer of 1992.

Defendants Jadranko Saran, Samir Sabic and Zijad Kadic plead not guilty today before the Bosnian state court. They are charged with having committed war crimes in the Bosanska Krupa area in 1995 and 1996.

The Bosnian state court referred the Milenko Krsmanovic case to the district court in Eastern Sarajevo for further processing. Krsmanovic is charged with war crimes against the civilian population in the Sokolac area in 1992.

A protected state prosecution witness known as B-1 said that defendant Miroslav Duka beat him during his detention at the public safety station in Bileca. He said he witnessed the beating of other detainees as well.

At todays hearing of the Zarije Ostojic trial, an Eastern Sarajevo district prosecution witness said the defendant took a detainee out of a hangar and beat him.

The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecution and the defense gave their closing arguments in the case against Azemin Sadikovic, a former member of the armed forces of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina who is charged with killing four people in the municipality of Hadzici.
