The defence lawyer for former Bosnian Serb reservist policeman Mico Jurisic urged the court to acquit him of committing crimes against humanity against non-Serb civilians in the Prijedor area in 1992. In closing statements at the Bosnian state court on Monday, Mico Jurisic’s defence said he should be found not guilty of participating in the persecution of the non-Serb civilian population in the Prijedor area through crimes including murders, torture, the unlawful deprivation of liberty, taking people to detention camps and other inhumane acts.

Dusan Spasojevic, a former Bosnian Serb Territorial Defence fighter, is accused of raping a Bosniak civilian in an elementary school in the Zvornik area in May 1992. Dusan Spasojevic went on trial on Tuesday at the state court in Sarajevo, accused of committing rape in the village of Malesici in the Zvornik municipality in 1992.

Former Bosnian Serb soldier Cvijan Tomanic went on trial for killing an ethnic Albanian civilian and seizing two Bosniak civilians who then disappeared in the Zvornik area in 1992. Eight former fighters were indicted for wartime crimes against Serb civilians who were unlawfully detained and allegedly tortured and sexually abused in the Lukavac area in 1992. The Bosnian state prosecution on Friday charged Zijad Srabovic, Refik Morankic, Ahmet Bajric, Abid Arapcic, Senaid Cosic, Pasaga Cajic, Samir Dzambic and Mirsad Zilic with war crimes against more than 20 Serb civilians who were unlawfully detained at several locations in Lukavac and the surrounding area.
