The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has charged them with murders of at least 48 persons and persecution of Bosniak population from the village of Jusici, near Zvornik.
“The defendants have been charged, in their capacity as members of the Territorial Defense Malesic and, later on, the Zvornicka Brigade of VRS, with having participated in organized attacks against the Bosniak civilian population in the village of Jusici in the municipality of Zvornik, which resulted in murders and forced disappearances of several dozen people, unlawful detention, forced deportation of women and children, as well as burning and destruction of houses and property, within a widespread and systematic attack by VRS, the police and paramilitary formations against the Bosniak civilian population in the period between April and December 1992,” the State Prosecution said in its announcement.
The defendants have been accused of participating in an attack on the village of Jusici and the crimes committed in it. They have been charged with crime against humanity.
According to its announcement, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina will prove its allegations through the examination of around 130 witnesses and court experts, including five protected witnesses, and introduction of several hundred pieces of material evidence.
The indictment has been filed with the Bosnian State Court for confirmation.
