Episode 89: Art Theft in Bosnia and Herzegovina
This post is also available in: Bosnian
Artworks of Ismet Mujezinovic, Mersad Berber and Safet Zec were stolen, but nobody has been tried for the theft as yet. The final destination of the stolen artworks is still not known.
Some of them were resold at market places or in other countries, even Spain, while some were burned.
Orthodox church icons and Ferdinand Hodler’s masterpieces were not spared during the war either. Works of art are not protected even though years have passed since. Are we aware of the valuables we are losing? Shall we stop the organized crime activities targeting art items?
