The prosecution and defense presented their closing statements in a closed hearing, after defense attorney Zorana Carkic asked the court to exclude the public. Carkic said she intended to mention the identity of a protected witness in her closing statement.
Prior to the exclusion of the public, Blazenka Grujic, a prosecutor with the cantonal prosecution of Sarajevo, said she believed the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence for the court to render a lawful and fair decision on the defendant’s responsibility.
The cantonal prosecution has charged Gojkovic, a former member of the Bosnian Serb Army, with having raped a woman in the Grbavica neighbourhood on September 29, 1992.
Gojkovic is defending himself while at liberty under prohibitive measures.
