Cehic’s defense said it didn’t believe that the cantonal court of Bihac would be unbiased in the case, and requested that the trial proceedings continue at another court in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The case file will be forwarded to the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will decide whether the case will be transferred or not.
The cantonal prosecution of Una-Sana has charged Cehic, a former member of the National Defense of the Western Bosnia Autonomous Region, with beating five captured members of the military police of the Fifth Corps of the Bosnian Army in the village of Pecigrad in the municipality of Cazin on July 16, 1994.
The trial will continue once a decision has been made on the jurisdiction of the case.
