Rade Vlasenko, Mitar Vlasenko and Drago Koncar, all former members of the Bosnian Serb Army, have been charged with participating in the persecution of the non-Serb population from the Kozarac area and the surrounding villages in the municipality of Prijedor from May 24 to mid-August 1992. The indictment alleges that the defendants committed acts of murder and enforced disappearances.

At today’s hearing, state prosecutor Cazim Hasanspahic included about 100 pieces of material evidence in the case file. The evidence included information on the wartime context of the Kozarac area, the military status of the defendants and the death certificates of the injured parties.

Hasanspahic said certain documents had been obtained following a search of the defendants’ homes. He said the evidence included included two planners containing lists of names and the denotations of checkpoints, which had been temporarily confiscated from defendant Drago Koncar.

The defense attorneys objected to the relevance and lawfulness of some of the evidence.

Koncar’s defense attorney included eight pieces of material evidence pertaining to the credibility of a protected state prosecution witness known as S-1.

The trial will continue on September 22.
