At today’s trial hearing, a former member Bosnian Army soldier says that defendant Nihad Bojadzc left Jablanica before his alleged crimes took place.

Bojadzic, the former deputy commander of the Bosnian Army’s Zulfikar Squad, is charged with crimes committed against Bosnian Croats in Jablanica. His charges include the rape of a woman and the sexual abuse of a man in Jablanica in July 1993.

Defense witness Orhan Pasalic, a former soldier and son of deceased Bosniak commander Arif Pasalic, said that he met Bojadzic in the summer of 1992. Bojadzic went to Mount Igman, he said, where the situation was “critical.”

Pasalic, who served as an escort to his father, said that while he was in Jablanica he stayed at the home of local residents. According to Pasalic, Bojdzic did the same.

Pasalic said he saw Bojadzic again in Jablanica in August 1993, when he came to the house in which he and others were accommodated. Pasalic said Bojadzic went to Mostar soon after that.

New defense witnesses will be examined on February 26.
