Expert Examination of Indictee Stricevic Approved

The Trial Chamber accepted the Defence’s request to have psychiatrist Nada Milovanovic conduct an expert examination of indictee Stricevic in order to determine whether the indictee could follow and participated in the trial.
Defence attorney Jovo Pilipovic said that the indictee was taking 16 different medications and that his heart pumped blood with less than 30 percent of full capacity. The Cantonal Prosecution did not object to the proposal for an expert examination.
In late September last year the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, partially upheld a Defence’s appeal and quashed the verdict, under which Stricevic was sentenced to ten years in prison, and returned the case back to the Cantonal Court for retrial.
The indictment alleges that Stricevic, former member of reserve police forces, is charged with having participated in the murder of Emsud Smailovic and Mustafa Cikota, former members of the Territorial Defence of BiH.
A new status conference will be held once the expert examination of Stricevic has been completed.
