The first witness at Petar Kovacevic’s trial for crimes in Visegrad is examined in absence of public.

As explained by Prosecutor Dzevad Muratbegovic, protected witness S-1 requested additional protection measures.

“The witness requested that the hearing be closed to public, because she was mentally and physically traumatized,” Muratbegovic said.

The Trial Chamber approved the request.

Kovacevic, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, is charged with having participated in the persecution of the Bosniak civilian population from the Visegrad area from May to August 1992.

He is charged with detention, murder and rape.

The trial is planned to be continued on October 27.
