Edib Buljubasic, who is charged with crimes committed in “Dretelj” military prison, near Capljina, fails to appear in court in order to testify in his defence.

Buljubasic, who is serving his sentence, in Zenica prison, for having killed his father, informed court police that he was not able to come to the hearing due to mental problems.

According to an earlier court decision, hearings can be held in absence of Buljubasic, so the Defence of indictee Marina Grubisic-Fejzic presented material evidence related to identity mix-up as well as her personality.

The two indictees are on trial, along with Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg and Ivan Medic, for crimes against civilians in “Dretelj” committed in 1992.

According to the charges, Buljubasic was Deputy Commander of the military barracks in Dretelj, Grubisic-Fejzic and Medic were guards, while Zelenika was former officer with the Croatian Defence Forces, HOS, and Herzeg was Commander of “Dretelj”.

The trial is due to continue on Tuesday, September 9.
