Among other things, the Prosecution presented two military service books for Marinko Bjelica, as well as photographs of several persons on which witnesses recognized indictee Marinko Bjelica.
“By presenting a certificate related to Marinko Bjelica issued by the Ministry of Defence of Republika Srpska on March 9, 1992, we are proving that he belonged to military formation units,” Prosecutor Dzemila Begovic said.
The Defence mentioned that the photographs on which, as alleged by the Prosecution, the witnesses recognized Marinko Bjelica, were made in 1995, i.e. three years after the events covered by the indictment.
Marinko and Zoran Bjelica, as well as Novica Tripkovic, who were allegedly armed with automatic guns, are charged with having separated detainees Suad Hasanbegovic, Edin Bico, Seid Keso and Hasim Hatic from a school building in Kalinovik on August 1, 1992 or approximately on that date.
According to the charges, later that night they beat them up. Keso died after that, while the three other detainees were killed the following day. The body of Hasim Hatic has never been found, while the bodies of the three remaining persons were exhumed and identified in 2009.
The trial is due to continue on August 20, when two witnesses will be examined.
