Prosecutor Vesna Ilic believes the custody measure should be prolonged, since they would try to influence witnesses if they were released.
The Defence teams objected to the proposal, claiming their clients should be released with protective measures.
Duka’s lawyer Dejan Bogdanovic said the Bosnian Prosecution had no evidence the defendants tried to influence witnesses to change their testimonies.
“We have no attempt made by Duka, his friends or anyone”, said Bogdanovic,
Veljko Civsa, who was the stand-in lawyer for Vujovic said that the preconditions for custody were not met in the case.
The State Court will decide on this matter at a later date.
According to the indictment – which the judges said at this hearing was confirmed – Vujovic former Chief of the Public Safety Station in Bileca, and Duka, former Commander of the police, are charged with having participated in a joint criminal enterprise aimed at persecuting the non-Serb population in Bileca municipality from June to December 1992.
They were arrested a month ago and ordered into custody.
