Court expert Ljubomir Curkic said that, on the basis of medical findings, he determined that injured party Saban Ibrakovic had a few broken ribs.

“At the time the injuries were made they represented serious bodily injuries, which could be caused by using mechanical tools or by hitting the person with hands and legs,” Curkic explained.

In his findings court expert in psychiatry Vjekoslav Kovacevic said that injured party Ibrakovic suffered from chronic post-traumatic stress disorder, which appeared during and after his stay in prison.

“In case the Court proves that, I think that the injured party suffered severe psychiatric pain, fear and mental suffering when he was beaten and mistreated,” Kovacevic said.

Vojin Lukic, former guard with the District Prison in Doboj, is charged with having abused Saban Ibrakovic in the prison premises on several occasions by hitting him with a thick electric cable, hands and legs, which caused Ibrakovic to faint several times.

District Prosecutor Izudin Berberovic presented, as material evidence, a letter from the Doboj District Prison referring to Vojin Lukic’s job description and medical documents for injured party Ibrakovic.

Defence attorney Goran Neskovic announced that, during the presentation of its evidence the Defence would examine five witnesses and that Lukic himself would testify. He said that a court medicine expert would present his findings about medical documents related to the indictee’s health condition and his medical treatment in the period from the end of July to the beginning of November 1992.

The trial is due to continue on October 7.
