State Prosecutor Dragan Corlija said he would examine the first witness on May 21 in response to evidence presented by the defence of the four indictees, who are charged with crimes in Serdari village, Kotor-Varos.

Fikret Planincic, Rasim Lisancic, Sead Menzil and Mirsad Vatrac, former members of the Territorial Defence, are charged with having participated in an attack on Serdari village on September 17, 1992, when 16 Serb civilians were killed.

Trial Chamber Chairman Ljubomir Kitic suggested that the defence prepare additional pieces of evidence in response to the prosecution’s evidence.

A witness who was due to testify in defence of indictee Vatrac failed to appear at the hearing due to illness. The Trial Chamber suggested that defence attorney Fadil Abaz contact the witness and check whether her health has seriously deteriorated, in which case a court medical expert could be called in.
