Prosecutor Slavica Terzic presented an order issued by the Safety Services Centre in Prijedor on August 2, 1992 concerning the establishment of a police battalion consisting of seven companies.

Prosecutor Terzic wanted to present DNA reports for 52 persons and photo documentation depicting exhumed skeletal remains, but the Defence teams requested that court expert Ana Bilic presented her findings and opinion prior to presentation of those pieces of evidence.

The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina accepted the Defence’s proposal.

Dusan Jankovic, Zoran Babic, Milorad Skrbic and Zeljko Stojnic, former members of Prijedor police, are on trial for crimes at Koricanske stijene, where about 200 civilians were killed.

Under a first instance verdict, Jankovic, former “Commander of Prijedor Police Station”, was sentenced to 27 years in prison, Babic and Skrbic were sentenced to 22 years each and Stojnic to 15 years. The Appellate Chamber revoked the verdict and ordered a retrial.

The Defence of indictee Jankovic presented statements by two witnesses, who testified in defence of the indictee.

The Appellate Chamber rejected a proposal made by the Prosecution and Defence concerning confrontation of several witnesses, who had been examined previously, explaining that they had already testified at this trial and that their statements would be considered by the Chamber.

The trial is due to continue on December 7.
