Dalida Burzic, Chairwoman of the Trial Chamber with the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, said that the indictee had justified his absence from the hearing.Sadik Hota, Defence attorney of indictee Ceco, filed a motion with the Court on August 16 this year. In that motion he said that the indictee was a religious person, who fasted during the entire month of Ramadan, so he found it hard to be on trial on Eid. The Court has accepted the motion, as it considers the Defence’s request to postpone the trial justified, Burzic said. The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecution charges Ibrahim Ceco, former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, with having physically abused Serb civilians, while they were digging trenches in Dobrinja 5, Sarajevo on September 18, 1992.Among other things, he is charged with having kicked S.V. in his chest several times, causing S.V. to lose consciousness and breaking three of his ribs. The trial has been postponed until August 30 this year, when two Defence witnesses will be examined.
