In his motion Karadzic said that he wanted the witnesses to be invited again so he could examine them about some documents, which had not been revealed by the Prosecution, although, as he said, they were “acquittal document”.
Most of the witnesses, whom Karadzic wants to re-examine, are members of international civil and military authorities, including UNPROFOR Commanders and two protected witnesses.
“In the case of each of these witnesses, the Prosecution violated its obligation to reveal documents, because it failed to reveal the acquittal evidence prior to the testimony of these witnesses,” the indictee said in his motion.
The Hague Tribunal will render a decision about this motion at a later stage.
The indictment alleges that Karadzic, former President of Republika Srpska, is charged with a sniping and shelling campaign conducted in Sarajevo and crimes in other towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is charged with genocide, crimes against humanity and the violation of the laws and customs of war.
