State Prosecutor Dubravko Campara presented three sets of material evidence, mostly pertaining to regular combat reports of the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad with the Main Headquarters of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, as well as evidence related to the preparation for and plan on conducting an attack on the Srebrenica area in July 1995.
Among other things, it presented three pieces of material evidence related to UN reports from 1995, in which Dutch soldiers described what they saw in Potocari on July 11 and 12.
The mentioned reports point out that the international community asked VRS members to enabled the passage of humanitarian aid to that area because the situation was rapidly deteriorating.
The State Prosecution charges Franc Kos, Stanko Kojic, Vlastimir Golijan and Zoran Goronja with genocide in Srebrenica and the murder of about 800 men on Branjevo farm in Zvornik municipality in July 1995.
The indictment alleges that Kos was Commander of the First “Bijeljina” Unit with the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad of the Main Headquarters of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, while Kojic, Golijan and Goronja were members of that unit. They are charged with having shot prisoners, some of whom were tied and blindfolded.
According to the charges, Kos and Kojic searched for survivors following the mass murder of men and boys, and anyone found alive was then “shot by firing bullets from revolvers”.
Following the presentation of material evidence by the Prosecution, the Defence of the indictees presented their objections, saying that the evidence that did not relate to July 1995 was not relevant.
Commenting on the objections, the Prosecutor said that he considered the pieces of evidence from 1992 very important, because they showed that, already in that period there was a plan for genocide as well as moving and deporting Bosniaks from Eastern Bosnia.
The next hearing is due to be held on July 1, 2011, when a protected Prosecution witness will be examined.
