“The evidence gathered so far suggests that this is a secondary mass grave. The grave probably contains the remains of victims, who had first been buried in Glogova village and then transferred to the grave at Ljeljen do,” the State Prosecution said in its announcement.

A representative of the State Prosecution is leading the exhumation process, in which the Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the International Commission for Missing Persons, ICMP, a court medicine expert (a pathologist) and staff of the Commemoration Centre in Tuzla are also involved.

The exhumation process is expected to last several days. The remains found at this site will be sent to the Commemoration Centre in Tuzla for identification.

The State Prosecution says that the remains of a great number of victims are expected to be found at Ljeljen do.
