Ivanovic: Witness Fails to Appear

Trial Chamber Chairman Darko Samardzic said the Court had been informed that Hasan Hasanovic was not capable of testifying for physical and mental reasons, explaining that this was why he had failed to appear at the hearing.
 
Petko Pavlovic, Defence attorney of indictee Ivanovic, informed the Trial Chamber that he would try to contact Hasanovic and the Defence would decide at the next hearing whether or not to give up on the witness.
 
Hasan Hasanovic was supposed to testify about the events that took place in Kravica in July 1995, when he saw Srebrenica male residents being killed while he stood nearby.  
 
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has charged Zeljko Ivanovic, as member of the Skelani Third Unit with the Second Special Police Squad, with having participated in capturing a large group of men in Sandici village on July 12 and 13, 1995, as well as taking away and shooting more than 1,000 Srebrenica residents at the Kravica Agricultural Cooperative.
 
The indictment alleges that, after having detained the prisoners, Ivanovic and other members of the Second Squad stood in a semi-circle and started shooting at the prisoners in the hangar.
 
The next hearing is due to take place on November 11, when Ivanovic’s Defence will examine one witness and present material evidence.
