Participants in the Peace March, a walk that has now taken place each year for the last four years as a way of marking the anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, walked more than 110 km following the same route that was taken by people fleeing from the town 14 years ago.
After the fall of Srebrenica, thousands of men and boys tried to escape from Serb forces, walking through the forest. Their goal was Nezuke, near Tuzla, where Bosnian army forces were stationed.
A huge part of those who followed this route 14 years ago never arrived. They were caught and killed. The Peace March is organized as a sign of remembrance for all the victims of Srebrenica. It ends in Potocari where until now more then 3000 victims of the massacre have been buried.
