Dulic, a former member of the 501st Bosnian Liberation Brigade of the Fifth Corps of the Bosnian Army, has been charged with the rape of a woman in the village of Beganovici in Cazin in December 1993. Dulic allegedly acted in collaboration with two other unidentified perpetrators.

Safet Mujcic, a former squad commander with the Third Battalion of the 501st Bosnian Liberation Brigade, was invited to testify in response to testimony given by additional state prosecution witnesses. Mujcic said the defendant was a member of his battalion in late 1992 and early 1994.

Mujcic described Dulic as a reliable soldier and said he’d never heard that he mistreated or raped anyone.

“Those things didn’t happen in our unit,” Mujcic said.

Mujcic said his unit never went to the village of Beganovici, and said it didn’t sound familiar.

According to the Mujcic, three other members of the 501st Brigade were also named Dzevad Dulic, and soldiers from other brigades also shared that name.

He specified another person named Dzevad Dulic in the Second Battalion of the 501st Brigade.
