This post is also available in: Bosnian
For the past year and a half, we have been collecting data and documents about disciplinary proceedings against police officers. We wanted to find out how the police force punishes wrongdoers in its ranks and whether the punishment prevents future violence and misconduct. We found the door to the police archives closed. It was very hard to get the information. We can reveal that some cases of police violence that caused public discontent did not result in the police officers involved being penalized by the force. Hundreds of disciplinary proceedings weren’t completed in Mostar because they exceeded the official time limit due to procedural issues. This is also a story about the long-term repercussions of police violence.
