The Bosnian state prosecution said on Monday that the human remains exhumed in Vozuca in the Zavidovici municipality were assumed to belong to Serb war victims who were killed there in 1995.

“Three complete and three incomplete bodies, as well as one thigh bone, have been found,” said Lejla Cengic, spokesperson for the Institute for Missing Persons.

“The mortal remains will be transported to Banja Luka, where a court medical examination of the remains and the identification of victims through a DNA analysis will be carried,” Cengic added.

She said that the exhumation will continue on Tursday, weather conditions permitting, and that it is being assumed that more remains could be found.

The discovery of the remains will contribute significantly to the processing of cases of war crimes committed in the Vozuca area, the prosecution said.

The Institute for Missing Persons also said on Monday that an exhumation of a mass grave at the Sase mine in Srebrenica is ongoing.

The mass grave contains around 20 Bosniak war victims, buried five metres below the surface, the institute added.
