Salkic is accused of the torture, abuse and inhumane treatment of civilians who he considered to be sympathisers with the National Defence force of the Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia, a self-proclaimed Bosniak-led wartime rebel statelet.

“In August 1995, he singled out two victims, Bosniak men, who he tortured, beat and ill-treated, causing them severe physical and mental injuries, from which they still suffer consequences,” the prosecution said in a statement.

The indictment was forwarded to the state court for confirmation.
