The state prosecution has charged Stevo, Milosav, Marjan and Slavko Jovanovic with killing five Bosniak civilians in the village of Medosevici in June 1992.

According to the charges, they killed two civilians with firearms and one civilian with a blow to the chest.

The defendants then allegedly killed two children by locking them inside a house which they then set on fire.

They have also been charged with killing an 86 year old woman and setting her house on fire in the village of Buckovici on June 4, 1992.

According to the charges, all of them were members of the Third Podrinjska Light Infantry Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army.

Milenko Jovanovic testified in defense of Marjan Jovanovic at today’s hearing. He is a close relative of the defendants.

He said he knew Ahmet Medosevic’s family, but never heard anything about their deaths.

“I know their son Mevludin as well. I met him in the village of Medosevici, where he has landed property. He comes there to pick apples. We are in contact, but he never told me anything about his parents. We have never discussed what happened to them,” Jovanovic said.

The prosecution examined Jovanovic on his wartime duties when he was a member of the Bosnian Serb Army.

He was asked to describe the locations of the frontlines and dugouts where soldiers were stationed while on duty.

The prosecution also asked Jovanovic to describe whether it was possible to see the village of Medosevici from a dugout on the elevated point of Medena Glavica.

The trial will continue on March 18.
