The state prosecution has charged Lovrenovic with killing two prisoners of war after he and other members of the military police of the Croatian Defense Council captured a group of active and reserve police officers and members of the Mrkonjic Grad public safety station in the hamlet of Sebezi in the vicinity of Mrkonjic Grad.
Lovrenovic has also been charged with torturing and abusing prisoners. Acting in collaboration with other members of the military police of the Croatian Defense Council, he detained groups of prisoners in the public safety station in Jajce from June to August 1992. He then kicked and punched the prisoners, beat them with batons and cables, extinguished cigarettes all over their bodies and pulled their teeth out with a coat hanger.
According to the indictment, these crimes were committed during the conflict between the Territorial Defense of Jajce and the Croatian Defense Council on one side, and the Bosnian Serb Army in the territory of Barevo in the village of Liskovac on the other. Liskovac is located between the municipalities of Jajce and Mrkonjic Grad.
The prosecution said Lovrenovic held both Bosnian and Croatian citizenship.
The indictment has been forwarded to the state court for confirmation.
