However, while being cross-examined by prosecutor Adam Weber, ballistics expert Zorica Subotic could not cite the participants in that conspiracy.

The indictment against Mladic alleges that the Bosnian Serb Army fired a shell on the Markale Market on February 5, 1994, killing 66 and wounding 140 civilians.

Subotic said she absolutely excludes the possibility that the Bosnian Serb Army was responsible for the attack. According to her findings, the shell couldn’t have fallen on its alleged target without hitting the roof of a neighbouring stand.

Upon the suggestion of prosecutor Weber, she said that according to her theory some of the victims were killed earlier and had their bodies taken to the Markale Market.

Subotic was asked whether this meant that a “pile of corpses were standing around the corner” before the explosion.

“It was probably like that,” Subotic said.

Subotic stood by her claim that the mine was planted at the market and that it was remotely activated.

She denied that Sarajevo police and UNPROFOR investigators participated in that conspiracy. She could not say who did participate in the conspiracy.

Mladic’s trial will continue tomorrow, on October 7.
