Verdict of Release For Bejtic Repealed Again
Bejtic, a former member of the Tenth Mountain Brigade of the Bosnian Army, was charged with participating in the murder of Serbs in Kazani in 1992 and 1993.
An appeal filed by the Sarajevo cantonal prosecution has been accepted and the case has been referred back to the cantonal court in Sarajevo for a retrial, said Federal supreme court spokesperson Ilhana Tahmaz-Jamak..
During a session held on May 27, the Sarajevo cantonal prosecution requested that the first instance verdict be repealed due to a violation in the proceedings, as well as incomplete and incorrectly determined facts.
The defense said the prosecutions appeal was unfounded.
In 2006, Bejtic was found guilty and sentenced to 14 and a half years in prison. He was acquitted of the charges against him twice, in 2008 and 2011. The cantonal court of Sarajevo acquitted Bejtic a second time in December 2011.
Bejtic was extradited from Germany 13 years ago.
