The former Bosnian Serb Army fighter has been found guilty of participating in murders, mistreatment and other crimes in Kljuc in 1992.

The chamber determined that Lukic participated in the murder of two Bosniak civilians and physical mistreatment and inhumane treatment of several other persons.

“On the basis of our analysis of all the evidence presented at the trial, the chamber has determined that the defendant is guilty. We do not have any doubts regarding his guilt,” trial chamber chair Jasminka Karabegovic said.

Karabegovic said the chamber gave special consideration to testimonies given by victims who recognized Lukic.

“The defense’s attempt to put their testimonies under question and prove a mix-up of identities was not questionable. The chamber considers that testimonies by Nenad and Predrag Bajic, both previously sentenced, as well as Sinisa Babic, had no weight, so the court couldn’t trust them,” Karabegovic said.

Lukic was originally charged with Predrag Bajic and four other defendants, who were sentenced to between 5 and 13 years in prison, but his case was separated due to his poor health.

The parties have the right to appeal the verdict with the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
