Today’s hearing of the Milkan Gojkovic trial was held in a closed session at the cantonal court of Sarajevo, in order to protect the injured party in the case.

Two cantonal prosecution witnesses testified at the hearing.

Cantonal prosecutor Nives Kanevcev proposed to exclude the public during the testimony of both witnesses. Zorana Carkic, Gojkovic’s defense attorney, said she didn’t oppose the proposal.

Gojkovic, a former member of the Bosnian Serb Army, has been charged with raping a woman in the Grbavica neighborhood of Sarajevo on September 29, 1992, and with acting contrary to wartime conventions and the protection of civilians.

Gojkovic is defending himself at liberty. He has been assigned court-ordered prohibitive measures.

The date of the next hearing will be announced at a later stage.
