Zdenko Andabak, Muamir Jasarevic and Sead Velagic were charged with crimes against humanity on Thursday, accused of the unlawful arrest of Serb civilians, their detention in inhumane conditions and killings of 16 people in the Livno area in western Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the indictment, which still has to be confirmed, Andabak was commander of the Croatian Defence Council’s military police, while Jasarevic and Velagic were members of the Livno military police force.

“Andabak, Jasarevic and Velagic are charged with crimes committed against over 300 Serb victims in the Livno area, who were unlawfully detained in the school Ivan Goran Kovacic school, where they were kept under the control of the Croatian Defence Council’s military police,” the Bosnian prosecution said.

“Prisoners were repeatedly abused, tortured, and three victims died as a result of torture, while 13 civilians were taken from the camp and killed,” it said.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Bosnian court for confirmation.

Andabak is already on trial at the Bosnian court for alleged war crimes against Bosniaks in the Livno area.
