Novakovic, the former commander of the Mostanice Company of the Territorial Defense, has been charged with ordering and participating in the persecution of the non-Serb population in Bratunac. He’s been charged with unlawful detention and other inhumane acts.

Novakovic allegedly commanded members of the Territorial Defense in an attack on the village of Suha in May 1992. They escorted about 300 residents of Suha to a football stadium in Bratunac.

The prosecution alleges that men were then detained in the Vuk Karadzic school in Bratunac, while women, children and the elderly were deported to Kladanj by bus.

The indictment has been filed with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
