Testifying at the Milan Lukic trial, witness Milanko Marjanovic told the cantonal court in Bihac that residents from the village of Pudin Han didn’t tell him that Lukic was a suspect in the killing of two people.

Marjanovic said he was a deputy police officer in Pudin Han in 1992, where most of the residents were Bosnian Muslims.

He said he recalled being waken one night by Nisvet Ticevic, who told him that Ibrahim Draganovic and Baja Kumalic had been killed.

“I was shocked. I told the police command about it immediately. I went to the house in the morning and saw the bodies. Military police came and I told them what I knew. I told Nisvet not to say anything for his own safety. I told the other residents to stay together and sleep in houses near the police checkpoint,” Marjanovic said.

Marjanovic said he didn’t hear gunshots on the night of the killing, and that the sound of “gunfire was normal at the time.”

Marjanovic said he knew Lukic, but never saw him pass through the checkpoints near the village.

“Nisvet didn’t tell me how many soldiers came or what they were dressed like. Fata and the other residents never mentioned Milan Lukic as someone who took part in the killings,” Marjanovic said.

The trial continues on April 7.
