Veselko and Ivo Raguz were both acquitted under their first instance verdicts from January 2014. They were charged with the arrest and detainment of Bosniak men from the area of Stolac, the forcible transfer of women and children, and the physical abuse and torture of civilians in Dretelj in July and August 1993.

At the time Veselko Raguz was the commander of the Fourth Brigade Knez Domagoj of the Croatian Defence Council, and Ivo Raguz was a member of this unit.

In November 2014, the Appellate Chamber abolished the verdicts and ordered a new trial.
