Today’s hearing of the Mato Condric trial was closed to the public.

Prosecutor Milanka Kajganic requested that the public be excluded from the hearing in order to protect the privacy of today’s witness, even though the witness hadn’t requested protective measures from the court. The defense agreed.

Condric is a former member of the military police force of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO). Condric has been charged with enabling two unidentified HVO soldiers to rape a woman in the boiler room of the Polet football stadium in Bosanski Brod in July or August, 1992.

The indictment alleges that after the soldiers raped the woman, Condric sexually abused and humiliated her.

He is also charged with mental and physical abuse.

The trial will continue on March 18.
