The outcome of the Stojan Grbic trial will depend on the findings of the defendant’s psychiatric and psychological examination.

At today’s hearing held before Doboj’s district court, defense attorney Ratko Kesic requested an examination of Grbic’s mental health in order to confirm whether he could follow the trial proceedings.

“The man completely doesn’t understand where he is and it’s questionable whether he could perform the act for which he has been charged,” Kesic said.

District prosecutor Slavko Krulj said he had no objection to this proposal.

Stojan Grbic, a former member of the Civil Defense, has been charged with the rape of a woman of non-Serb nationality. The rape allegedly occurred in house in Teslic in the summer of 1992.

Grbic pleaded not guilty on February 5. The trial will continue on April 15.
