The custody measure for Mrdja has been extended due to existence of fear that, if released to liberty, he might destroy or hide evidence and influence witnesses and accomplices.

As per the State Court’s decision, the custody for Goran Mrdja has been extended for a maximum of three years.

Under the same decision, the State Court refused to extend custody for Milorad Mrdja and released him to liberty under home detention measures, also banning him from traveling and meeting the Bosnian State Prosecution witnesses.

Goran and Milorad Mrdja are suspected, along with Mile Kokot and Ranko Mrdja, of crimes against civilians in Sanski Most in 1992. Kokot and Ranko Mrdja are defending themselves while at liberty.

On January 20 the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, filed an indictment against these four former members of the Sixth Sanska Infantry Brigade of VRS, charging them with having participated in crimes against Bosniak victims, including the murders, rape, beating, robbing and other types of mental and physical abuse, in the broader area of Sanski Most from the summer of 1992 to the autumn of 1994.
