Prosecutor Edin Muratbegovic read the indictment, charging the Jovanovics, former members of the Third Podrinjska Light Infantry Brigade with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having murdered Bosniak civilians.
According to the charges, on June 4, 1992 the Jovanovics, who were armed, came to Buckovici village, where they ordered one person, while threatening him with guns, to go to the basement and killed him. The house, stable and neighbouring house began burning due to an open flame.
They are charged with having killed five civilians in Medosevici village in the first half of June 1992. It is alleged that they came to a stable, where six people were present, and ordered them to come out. After that they locked two children inside a house.
The others were ordered to walk towards Omerova Njiva. While they were walking, they hit those persons. The indictment alleges that Marijan Jovanovic stuck out as particularly rough. When one person managed to flee, the indictment alleges that two civilians were killed from fire arms and the third one by beatings on his chest.
The indictees are charged with having gone back to the house and killed the locked children, while the house was set on fire.
The trial is due to continue on January 30.
