Closed sessions represent the highest level of witness identity protection at trials conducted before The Hague Tribunal.

This is the 105th witness, who has testified in Mladic’s defence since the beginning of its evidence presentation. As said by presiding judge Alphons Orie yesterday, this is only one-third of the total of 300 witnesses, whose examination was announced by the Defence.

The examination of those witnesses will continue during 2016, the Dutch judge said. The Prosecution previously examined as many witnesses during its evidence presentation, which began in July 2012.

Mladic, who was Commander of the Republika Srpska Army during the Bosniak war, is charged with genocide in Srebrenica, the persecution of Muslims and Croats throughout BiH, which reached the scale of genocide in seven municipalities, terror against civilians in Sarajevo and taking UNPROFOR members hostage.

The trial of Mladic is due to be continued tomorrow.
